Our counselling service
We are able to help with a very wide range of difficulties.
When you first contact us
, if you leave us a message, please let us know whether we can ring you back or leave a message in another way. We will do our best to reply to you within 2 working days. We will ask you to tell us briefly about your reason for contacting us, and, if we agree to meet, we will ask you about any preferences that you have for time, place, and counsellor. We will then make a provisional booking. We will ask you to give us at least 24 hours notice of a cancellation.
The length of time that counselling lasts
will depend upon what you agree with your counsellor.
This means that you may decide to have just one session, or you may decide that you would like more. It is possible to meet
weekly or less frequently, maybe fortnightly or monthly, depending upon your and your counsellor's availability, and your needs.
In this case you will review how you are getting on at regular intervals, and can decide to finish at any time.

Our counselling approach
is Integrative. This means that, because we have all had a variety of training, we are able to choose the best approach for you and the particular issue that you want help with. And it is probably helpful to bear in mind that Counselling is a general name given to many different types of therapy that mainly involve talking, so that, even if you have had counselling before, counselling with us is unlikely to be the same. There are overlaps between the different approaches to counselling, but counsellors using different approaches are unlikely to counsel in exactly the same way. And, as with any job, even counsellors who are using the same approach will not be the same.
All Peak and Dales counsellors have completed lengthy post-graduate training in Person Centred therapy, and they can all use Cognitive Behavioural techniques (CBT techniques) as well as having their own specialisms. However, if you make an enquiry about counselling with us, and are looking for a particular approach that we do not offer, we will do our best to assist you in finding a counsellor who offers the approach that you are looking for.
